Itinerary

Day 1   Arrival in Puglia – Polignano a Mare

Arrival at Bari or Brindisi airport. You will be met by our Travel Director and you will be transferred from the airport to your accommodation with private car.
Visit of Polignano a Mare a characteristic Mediterranean fishing village that stands on a rocky cliff. We will walk through the historical center downtown, with its houses and terraces directly overlooking the sea, where the karst nature of the cliffs and the erosion of the sea have given rise to many beautiful sea caves. Welcome dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 2   Wine tasting in the city of Trulli  –  Caves of Castellana

In the morning we will visit Alberobello the capital of the Trulli a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. We will visit a local winery founded at the beginning of 20th century. Here you can taste red and white Apulian wines and visit the Wine Museum where we will explain you the history of Apulian wines. Lunch in a characteristic restaurant in Alberobello based on typical Apulian dishes.
In the afternoon we will visit the Caves of Castellana, incredible underground karst caves formed by rainwater in the course of the centuries. Return to your accommodation and dinner on your own.

Day 3   Matera  –  Primitivo wine tasting

In the morning we will visit Matera (in Basilicata region) a UNESCO World Heritage Site, best known for the Sassi di Matera, an ancient city with houses that have been excavated in the rock and that have been lived in since the Paleolithic Era. During our walk in the Sassi of Matera we will visit a Casa Grotta fully furnished as it was in the past, so you will see how the ancient inhabitants of Matera lived.
Lunch in a local restaurant based on cucina lucana (traditional cuisine from Basilicata region).
In the afternoon we will visit a local winery in Gioia del Colle and tasting a famous Apulian red wine called Primitivo.
Return to your accommodation and dinner on your own.

Day 4   Trani – Famous dessert Apulian wine – Castel del Monte

In the morning we will visit Trani, a beautiful town on the sea dominated by an imposing white Cathedral built in 1097. The Cathedral of San Nicola Pellegrino is one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Puglia. Free time for your relaxation and lunch at your leisure.
In the afternoon we will go to an important winery which produces different types of Apulian wines: red wines like Nero di Troia, white wines like Falanghina and the famous Apulian dessert wine Moscato di Trani. Then we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site: Castel del Monte built by Emperor Frederick II in the 13th century. Return to your accommodation and dinner at your leisure.

Day 5   Lecce –  Negroamaro wine experience

In the morning visit of Lecce, the main city of the Salento area.
The superb beauty of its churches and elegant noble mansions attracts a great number of visitors, because this city is the capital of the Baroque art in Puglia. Lecce is also called the Florence of the Southern Italy.
After our guided sightseeing free time for yourself and lunch on your own. We will recommend some typical restaurants.
In the afternoon we will visit a winery that produces many Apulian wines and the famous Negroamaro wine. Return to your Hotel and rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 6  Bari – Turi

In the morning we will go to Bari, Puglia's capital city. Visit of the historical center of Bari and the ancient Basilica of St. Nicholas, which houses the relics of Bari’s Patron Saint. Of considerable charm is Bari’s city center with its beautiful Murat district dating back to the 19th century. Bari’s grid pattern streets are adorned with elegant and refined period buildings. Bari is ideal for shopping! Free time for yourself and lunch on your own.
Then we will visit Turi, a little town famous for cherries production. In the evening Arrivederci dinner based on delicious Apulian traditional dishes and wine.

Day 7  Departure - Transfer to the airport

The Travel Director will provide you with the final hotel check-out and personally escort you to the airport.
