Welcome to Egypt! This evening, enjoy an included dinner at your hotel on your own.

Day 3: Pyramids of Giza & the Grand Egyptian Museum
Included meals: Breakfast, Welcome dinner

Meet up with a professional Egyptologist, who’s also your Tour Director, and set off on a guided tour of Giza.

  • Uncover the Pyramids of Giza, the only Wonder of the Ancient World to have survived the modern era
  • Visit the enigmatic Great Sphinx, the largest monolith statue in the world
  • Enjoy an included lunch at a local restaurant
  • Enter the Grand Egyptian Museum, the world’s largest museum, and explore the vast collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts alongside your Egyptologist

Please note: If the Grand Egyptian Museum is not yet open to the public, a visit to Saqqara & the Imhotep Museum will take its place.

Later, gather with your Tour Director and fellow group members at a mixer before enjoying a welcome dinner.

Fly to Aswan this morning and enjoy free time for the rest of the day, or add an evening excursion.

Day 5: Sightseeing tour of Aswan & cruise embarkation

Enjoy a free morning in Aswan or add an excursion.

This afternoon, board your cruise ship and enjoy an included lunch while enjoying views of the Nile River. Afterwards, set off on a sightseeing tour of Aswan led by your Egyptologist.

  • Board a boat and visit the temples at Philae, located on an island in the Nile River
  • Enjoy a walking tour of the island and visit sites like the Temple of Isis, which features scenes of Isis’s life carved along the walls
  • Walk through the local market and enjoy free time to peruse the various shop stalls

Sit down for an included dinner aboard the ship this evening.

Please note: On some departures, the sightseeing tour of Aswan may take place on day 4.

Abu Simbel

Day 6: Sightseeing tour of the Temple of Kom Ombo & Edfu

Later, set sail for Kom Ombo and Edfu this morning and disembark your ship for guided tours with your Egyptologist leading the way.

  • Visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, built during the Greco-Roman period and noted for its twin deities, Sobek and Horus
  • Enjoy an included lunch aboard the ship as you cruise to Edfu

Spend a free afternoon in Edfu or add an excursion.

Day 7: Sightseeing tour of Karnak & Luxor

Continue your exploration of the wonders of Egypt today by seeing the painstakingly excavated Temple of Karnak and Luxor, once connected by an avenue of sphinxes, with your Egyptologist.

  • Enter Karnak Temple for a walking tour through the complex to see the Precinct of Amun Re, walls of hieroglyphics, and the Temple of Khonsu
  • Walk through Luxor Temple, located on the banks of the Nile River
  • View obelisks, statues, and the Abu Haggag Mosque

Enjoy lunch aboard the ship. Then, spend a free afternoon in Luxor.

Day 8: West Bank, Valley of the Kings, Disembarkation & flight to Cairo

Later, spend time touring the Nile’s West Bank with your Egyptologist as your guide.

Disembark from your cruise this afternoon and fly to Cairo.

Transfer to the airport to board your flight home, or extend your stay to explore Alexandria and see more of Cairo.

Extension to Alexandria & Cairo
Extend your trip and travel to Egypt’s second-largest city, Alexandria. There, you’ll explore the Bibliotheca Alexandrina—the modern successor to the famous Library of Alexandria that was destroyed centuries ago. Then, return to Cairo to explore the Medieval Islamic area of the city with your Tour Director.

Day 9: Transfer to Alexandria & sightseeing tour

Make your way to the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria and set out on a sightseeing tour.

  • Sit down for an included lunch at a local, seaside restaurant situated along the Mediterranean promenade
  • Enter the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a major library and cultural center on Alexandria’s Mediterranean coast
  • Drive along the Corniche waterfront to the 15th-century Citadel of Qaitbay, a fortress built on the former site of the Lighthouse of Alexandria
  • Climb to the ramparts of the Citadel and take in amazing views of the city and harbor
Day 10: Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa & Royal Jewelry Museum

Spend the morning discovering what secrets lie beneath Alexandria before learning more about the Egyptian royal family.

  • Visit the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, Egypt’s largest known Roman funerary complex
  • View the recently excavated Roman amphitheatre and Pompey’s Pillar
  • Head to the Royal Jewelry Museum, a grand, former palace where collectibles of the Egyptian royal family are on display
  • Explore the family’s immense collection of jewelry, as well as chess boards, binoculars, drinking vessels, and other items that are adorned with precious stones
  • Enjoy an included lunch at a local restaurant

Day 11: Transfer to Cairo & sightseeing tour

Travel back to Cairo this morning, then visit the Gayer-Anderson Museum. Set in a 17th-century former home that’s considered one of the most remarkable examples of Muslim domestic architecture in Cairo. You’ll see Egyptian art, carpets, other unique/rare collectibles as you explore the museum with your Tour Director.
