ABOUT THE GUIDE

Ignacio is a youth worker, alpinist and guide. As a youth worker, he has been for the past 12 years helping the youth at risk that has little to no support. As an alpinist, he focuses on discovering new paths to ascend mountains, usually through the most challenging routes. As a guide, he looks forward to give people the opportunity to learn about the environment and themselves, safely pushing them out of comfort zone.

ITINERARY FOR 3 DAYS PACKAGE: 

DAY 1: EXPLORING THE BLUE GEM, SÓLHEIMAJÖKULL

• Meet your glacier guide in the morning in Reykjavik. With the small group you will go to the South to meet your first glacier.
• On the way witness the awe-inspiring power of Skógafoss, one of Iceland's largest waterfalls.
• Embark on your glacier adventure at Sólheimajökull. Expert guide, local alpinist with a passion for exploration, will introduce you to the world of glacial ice.
• Learn the essential techniques for safe glacier navigation, including proper use of crampons and ice axes.
• Explore hidden corners of the glacier, venturing beyond the usual tourist paths.
• Gain fascinating insights into the nature and life of glaciers. How do they form, behave, and disappear.
• Learn and experience the different ice features, such as crevasses and moulains, seeing them from inside if desired.
• An introduction to ice climbing, experiencing the beauty of the glacier's hidden blue ice. This activity is completely optional, the tour caters to all fitness levels.
• After a full day of exploration, return to the vehicle feeling accomplished.
• Enjoy a delicious and well-deserved Icelandic style dinner with the group.
• Check into your comfortable hotel and prepare for the next day's adventures on the mighty Vatnajökull glacier.

DAY 2:  GLACIER EXPLORATION - SVINAFELLSJÖKULL (A GLACIER TONGUE OF VATNAJÖKULL)

• This day will be dedicated to the exploration of a beautiful tongue of Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier.
• Our experienced guide will carefully select a route that matches your experience and fitness level, ensuring a safe and exhilarating journey.
• The chosen tongue is more challenging than most glaciers, but thanks to the training of the previous day, you will be able to enjoy this experience with confidence.
• As you traverse the vast expanse of glaciated terrain, marvel at the breathtaking ice formations and immerse yourself in the otherworldly beauty of the Icelandic landscape.
• Throughout the day, your guide will share his knowledge of glacial geology and the unique ecosystem that thrives on and around Vatnajökull.
• After a thrilling day on the glacier, return to your hotel for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3: UNVEILING THE HIDDEN GEMS

Option 1: Deep Dive into Vatnajökull (Advanced)

• This day is dedicated to pushing your limits with a more challenging glacier hike on Vatnajökull.
• The chosen route may involve steeper terrain and potentially some technical aspects.
• Your expert guides will ensure your safety while providing the opportunity to experience glaciers as alpinists do.

Option 2: Exploring the Wonders around Vatnajökull

• For those seeking a more relaxed adventure, this day offers a chance to explore the breathtaking landscapes surrounding Vatnajökull.
• Depending on your interests, you could visit nearby sightseeing spots, embark on a scenic hike, or discover charming Icelandic villages.
• This option allows you to appreciate the beauty of the region at a more leisurely pace.
• After an exciting day your driver will drive you back to Reykjavik

• Go to Reynisfjara beach - most famous black sand beach in Iceland
• Enjoy landscapes of south along Iceland’s scenic coastal highway.
• Visit Dyrhólaey a picturesque promontory offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean.
• Explore Seljalandsfoss - waterfall you can walk behind.
• Retreat to the hotel in Keflavik for a well-deserved overnight stay.

DAY 6: DEPARTURE DAY

• Have private transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
• We can add Blue lagoon visit or Reykjanes Peninsula private tour if you have time and desire to explore Iceland a little bit more.
