I had been to Hong Kong once before. But it was at the end of a three-week tour. My head was already flying home. I was on autopilot. Not exploring. Just doing what was presented to me.
This time in Hong Kong my time was my own. It was the beginning of a trip. And I took in the city with enthusiasm.
From Hong Kong I traveled to Yangon, Myanmar. I stepped out of one of the shopping capitals of the world and into a much more complicated country. My heart goes out to the Rohingya people.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll share with you stories of my time in Hong Kong and Myanmar. I’ll share what I learned and what I felt, the beautiful and the disturbing, the highs and the lows.
This trip was sponsored by Cathay Pacific. I flew with them to Hong Kong enjoying their Premium Economy class experience with larger seats, more room between seats, more leg room and 8 inches of recline which, believe me, made for a better sleep on the direct 14-hour flight between Toronto and Hong Kong. I flew to Yangon via Dragonair, their Asian specialty carrier.
And now, here are a few photos from my trip. Watch for more stories to come.
