When not traveling, I sometimes get lost in the photos from my trips.
I was recently wandering through my photos from my trip to Java and Bali last year. While I was somewhat aware of it at the time, in looking at the images now I was struck again by how they show the traditional depth of the Balinese culture that the people so happily embrace today.
It was as if I had been trying to show this aspect of Bali when taking the photos. But that's not the case. Simply, the Balinese live their Hindu religion on a daily basis. They honor and pass down their traditional arts through the generations. And they truly share the happiness seen in many of their statues.
Have a look at a few images of Bali below.
Bali is a lush island with beaches and resorts that attract holiday-makers. But that's just the tip of what Bali is. The people, their culture, religion and traditions are what I enjoyed most. It's a wonderful destination.
Thanks to Overseas Adventure Travel for sponsoring my trip. As always, my photos and opinions are my own.
