Reasons to go: Atlanta is a composite of fabulous people from around the world. ATL is a perfect balance of urban flair and slow living charm. You can enjoy yourself with as much or as little as you like.
I recommend eating and shopping in Virginia Highlands and Inman Park. Stop by Cacao Chocolate Co. in Virginia Highlands and balance out the chocolate later at Kale Me Crazy Juice Bar in Inman Park. Stroll around Piedmont Park and Centennial Olympic Park. Take in the museums – the High Museum of Art, the Coca Cola Museum plus countless small “local museums”.
If time permits, venture to the North Georgia Mountains (45 minute drive) to the Georgia Wineries (Wolf Mountain and Three Sisters are my recommendations). Also see the many waterfalls – Anna Ruby is a favourite. There are a number of falls near the wineries.
We love to eat in Atlanta, so head over to Ormby’s (it can be difficult to find if you’re driving, so park in the area and walk to the restaurant) or The Optimist. Thumb’s Up Diner is a local institution, and great for breakfast. There are so many great options, you really can’t go wrong.
