Reasons to go:  Charleston is a great place for history buffs. There are lots of historic homes and museums to visit, walking tours, and carriage rides. It is architecturally interesting, and there are dozens of tours to choose from to get a taste of the city.

Charleston is a superb foodie town, with lots of terrific restaurants.  There are good shopping and people-watching opportunities and many art galleries to wander through. When looking for accommodation, you will find a nice selection of B&Bs to choose from.  The Historic District is the best place to stay, where just about everything you will want to see and do is within walking distance.
