Reasons to Visit the Mani Peninsula
Last summer I visited the Mani Peninsula in the Peloponnese of Greece. This is a unique part of Greece off the heavily touristic areas and one of the most fascinating areas I've visited. I want to return to see more of it!
The main features are the tower houses and the stories of family feuds surrounding them. The Maniots are friendly people although they have always managed to stay somewhat isolated from the rest of Greece. I enjoyed my stay there and would definitely not hesitate to travel alone.
I began my journey from Gythion and then took the bus to Aeropolis, the Gateway to the Mani, with a fascinating visit to the Diros Caves, which has prehistoric remains.
