Reasons to Visit Montego Bay
Montego Bay is beautiful and there is plenty to do. If you hire a driver like Clive's Taxi service, you will have no problems at all. It is an amazing, fantastically friendly place. You can hand-feed humming birds at the Rockland Bird Sanctuary, horseback ride on the beach at Chukka, visit pre-colonial ruins, climb mountains and waterfalls, go zip lining, sailing, or snorkeling, or just relax on a white sand beach with turquoise sea to gaze across.
A tour of the Rose Hall Great House is like a step back in time. You will learn all about Annie and the many husbands and lovers she is said to have done away with, then enjoy some rum punch in the basement bar. In fact, rum punch is pretty much a given wherever you go. And of course, the food. The food!
No trip to Jamaica would be complete without some patties. Join the long lunchtime line-up with locals at Juici Patties to get your fix. Scotchie’s is a must-visit for spectacular jerk. Speaking from experience, I do not suggest smuggling home a bottle of their homemade hot sauce, though I highly recommend eating as much as you can while you’re there.
