Reasons to go: San Diego is a melting pot where it's easy to connect with other solo travelers. There are amazing beaches, lots of waterfront destinations (Coronado Island, Torrey Pines, La Jolla), tasty Mexican food & sushi, the world-renowned San Diego Zoo, Old Town San Diego, SeaWorld, Balboa Park… the list is endless. There are also museums, surfing, hiking, brewery tours, and lots of live music venues.
There is a great eco-friendly hostel just outside of the downtown area and close to the Little Italy neighborhood called International Travelers House. There is a farmer's market nearby every Saturday and it is close to the well-known Gaslamp District which is full of restaurants & night clubs.
